In the Space Between Earth and Mars
by James Ahlschwede

In the space between Earth and Mars,
A thousand things greater than stars,

Possibilities unending,
Sending their siren's call,
And space can be freeing,
Eros your willing thrall,

But first we must fall,
And stare longingly up at the sky,
For we've not yet learned to crawl,
And can only imagine how to fly,

We stumble on our feet,
Started once, but can't repeat,
It's blindness and greed that bars,
The journey from Earth to Mars,

All these things blot out the stars,
In the space between Earth and Mars.
